Large NDE contracts in Norway
[2006-12-15]
Inspecta Sweden has received two large NDE contracts for the building of a gas power plant at Kårstö in Norway.
Kårstö is situated outside Haugesund and the power plant is built on an existing gas production plant where natural gas is refined and transported in pipelines to the rest of Europe. The power plant will have an electrical output of 420 MW and is ordered by Naturkraft from Siemens.

The Finnish company YIT and the Croatian company Djuro Djakovic Montaza that will assist Siemens in the erection of the plant have contracted Inspecta to do the NDE (non destructive examination) of the site welds. The assignment has already started and will be completed in March/April next year.
The assignment is challenging with regard to both resources and testing technology. As an example, all ultrasonic testing of the boiler piping welds will be carried out with a mechanised phased array system.
We are pleased to have contracted Inspecta for the NDE work, says YIT Project Manager Paavo Laakso. They have the resources and testing technology to handle a project like this.
