RTU/Inspecta – the European champions in floorball

The EuroFloorball Cup tournament in Rakoniewice, Poland culminated with a 4:3 triumph of the Latvian floorball team RTU/Inspecta in the exciting game against Estonian club SK Augur.

Before that RTU/Inspecta in the subdivision A had defeated several very strong teams from Russia and Poland. The vice-champion - the Estonian team entered the final after its victories over the teams from Denmark and Spain in subdivision B.

The floorball team of the Riga Technical University (RTU) was established 16 years ago, in 1995, and since 2008 Inspecta has been its general sponsor.

The Riga Technical University is the oldest university in Latvia. The history of the university dates back to 14 October 1862 with the establishment of the Riga Polytechnic, which was the first multi-branch technical tertiary education establishment in the former Russian Empire.

RTU/Inspectafloorball championship 2Nowadays the Riga Technical University is the only multi-branch technical university in Latvia. At the moment there are more than 17 000 students in eight faculties.

The Riga Technical University’s sports club unites more than 250 floorball playing students. It’s a home of main Latvian national floorball team RTU/Inspecta (22 players).

The Europe champion title is a remarkable achievement in the history of the team. We are proud of our team, which during these years has proved its consistency, accuracy and spirit!
