The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the French Ambassador to Finland, Eric Lebédel. This agreement strengthens AREVA’s commitment to utilize local industrial and nuclear expertise in its projects in Finland as well as abroad.
With already more than 300 Finnish companies qualified as AREVA subcontractors, this network of industrial partners is one of the largest in Europe for AREVA. “Our group actively pursues its strategy for the localization of its supplier network, already established through the construction of the Olkiluoto 3 EPR™ reactor. Companies in Finland are highly qualified and respond, in particular, to our very stringent safety requirements” declared Philippe Knoche, AREVA’s Chief Operating Officer.
"Through the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Inspecta Oy and AREVA, new opportunities for entering the nuclear market are created for Inspecta. In particular, we are searching for new assignments based on our quality and safety knowledge. We appreciate the possibility of future cooperation with AREVA", said Inspecta's country manager Timo Okkonen.
More than 100 Finnish suppliers work on the ongoing Olkiluoto 3 EPR™ project, with no less than 40 in the safety-related scope. Approximately 70 percent of the scope of work for such a nuclear power plant project is available for procurement by local companies.
